Four of Pope Leo XIV's favorite films have been made public ahead of a meeting with personalities from the film industry, part of an initiative by the Vatican to collaborate with creators. The Pope wishes to explore how art can support the mission of the Church and human values. Among the guests are renowned actors and directors, such as Cate Blanchett and Spike Lee.
Unlike his predecessor, Pope Francis, who preferred classic films, Leo XIV's selection includes titles such as "The Sound of Music," "It's a Wonderful Life," "Ordinary People," and "Life is Beautiful." These films, although traditional, tackle profound themes related to family and morality, but some critics suggest that Leo's approach is less daring compared to that of other religious leaders.
