Anna McAllister joined the CBS 4 team in December 2022 and is thrilled to be back in South Florida. With Thanksgiving just a few days away, Miami International Airport (MIA) is preparing for the busiest travel period of the year. Travelers arriving at MIA have described the experience as largely pleasant, despite the holiday hustle and bustle. Airport officials estimate nearly two million travelers during the holiday period, with new measures, such as 3-D X-ray machines, to speed up the screening process. Additionally, travelers were relieved to avoid a potential government shutdown that could have affected their plans. Authorities recommend arriving at least two hours before flights to avoid delays. At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, over 744,000 travelers are expected during the same period.
