Directors from major Indian defense companies, such as Adani Defence and Bharat Forge, participated in confidential meetings in Russia, aimed at discussing possible partnerships and joint projects. These meetings took place during the first visit of Indian defense industry leaders to Moscow since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The discussions focused on production lines in India for Russian military equipment, including MiG-29 aircraft and air defense systems.

However, expanding cooperation with Russia could complicate India's efforts to attract technology transfers from the West, considering that approximately 36% of the Indian army's equipment is of Russian origin. Indian companies are cautious regarding cooperation with Russia due to the risks of secondary sanctions. Despite Western pressures, India aims to maintain balanced relations with Russia to strengthen its military production capabilities.
