The Dalai Lama has said he wants to live to be 130, stressing that he will be reincarnated after his death and that his successor will be outside China.

At a ceremony in Dharamshala, the Dalai Lama expressed the hope to live beyond 130 years amid speculation about his succession. On the occasion of his 90th birthday, he reaffirmed that he will be reincarnated and that his successor will not be chosen by China but will be born in the "free world". The Dalai Lama emphasized the importance of helping human beings by continuing to serve the dharma and the Buddhist community.
