The Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova clarified the concept of "double diplomas," discussed by Minister Dan Perciun at the Rectors' Meeting in Chișinău. These diplomas are the result of joint study programs between universities in Romania and Moldova, being automatically recognized in both states. Graduates can use the national diploma of the institution from the country where they wish to work. Joint programs involve collaboration between higher education institutions, which are responsible for developing and approving study programs, organizing admissions, and ensuring quality. They can offer joint diplomas, either additional to the national ones or exclusively joint. Currently, Moldovan universities have developed 35 joint programs, mostly with institutions from Romania. Minister Perciun emphasized that these diplomas could reduce the exodus of students and strengthen universities in Moldova. Officials from Romania, as well as members of the Royal House, also participated in the meeting. Additionally, Romania offers scholarships and academic mobility for Moldovan students, highlighting the educational collaboration between the two countries.
