The Minister of Education, Daniel David, stated that starting from January 1, 2026, students will benefit from scholarships funded by European funds, with an estimated allocation of 60 million euros, for which the ministry is awaiting approval from the European Commission. These funds will primarily be directed towards social scholarships, while the surplus will support other types of scholarships, including performance and excellence scholarships. David emphasized that, following the application of the Bolojan Law, over 44,000 students have lost their scholarships, and the total fund for scholarships has decreased by 40%, which severely affects students, especially those in teaching degree programs. Additionally, scholarships will only be granted during the course and exam periods, not during vacations, and students in state-funded places will have priority. The Bolojan Law has also eliminated excellence scholarships for students with outstanding academic results.
