A 27-year-old Romanian man was involved in an attempted fraud in Italy, where he tried to present himself as a victim of a scam. He signed two financing contracts for the latest generation mobile phones, totaling approximately 3,200 euros, and reported to the carabinieri that someone had used his personal data without consent. However, the investigation revealed that the young man personally went to the store, chose the phones, and signed the contracts using his own documents.
Images from surveillance cameras and testimonies from the staff confirmed this, demonstrating that his complaint was unfounded. Now, he faces charges of simulating a crime and attempted fraud, being required to pay the installments for the phones. The carabinieri emphasized the importance of collaboration between citizens and law enforcement in combating these types of fraud.
