Scandal at the Hospital in Târgu Jiu: UPU-SMURD doctor fired after the death of a patient, fine for the hospital and a criminal investigation underway

The manager of the Târgu Jiu County Emergency Hospital has decided to terminate the employment contract of an UPU-SMURD doctor for disciplinary reasons, following the death of a 78-year-old man in an ambulance during the transfer between buildings. An investigation committee found that the doctor did not follow internal procedures, including contacting the necessary departments for consultation and admission. Additionally, the doctor did not fulfill responsibilities according to the hospital regulations.

As a result of the findings, the UPU-SMURD doctor was sanctioned with the termination of the contract, and the on-duty doctor from the Internal Medicine Department received a 10% salary reduction for three months. The Gorj Public Health Directorate imposed a fine of 30,000 lei on the hospital for failing to comply with UPU organization standards. Furthermore, the police have opened a criminal case for manslaughter in this matter.
