A gang of Romanian thieves managed to steal 14 new off-road vehicles from the port of Antwerp, Belgium, over the course of a weekend, with the help of accomplices. Video recordings show how the thieves, dressed in uniforms of the Van Moer Logistics company, opened the gates and coordinated the loading of the vehicles. In total, they stole three Toyota Land Cruisers on the first day, and in the following days continued to steal cars, managing to leave the premises with 14 vehicles prepared for export.
The company realized the disappearance only after a week, and an international investigation led to the identification of the gang, with four cars found in the Netherlands and two in the Czech Republic. The judge considered the acts particularly serious, and the seven gang members were sentenced to four years in prison and fines of 4,000 euros each, with the confiscation of their assets. Civil plaintiffs will receive a provisional compensation of 1 euro, until the exact damages are determined.
