The General Directorate for Fiscal Anti-Fraud (DGAF) discovered that a folk music singer from Argeș concealed tax liabilities of over 1.6 million lei. Following checks conducted on five companies and two individuals, inspectors established that the artist controlled these entities to avoid paying taxes to the state. According to ANAF, the singer was transferring copyright rights to family companies, which were generating income from platforms like TikTok, YouTube, or Facebook, but were declaring it incompletely. Through these companies, VAT was also illegally deducted for cars used personally by the artist.
The total damage identified is 1,612,037 lei, of which VAT accounts for over 1.1 million lei, while the rest comes from profit taxes, dividends, and income. Additionally, supplementary tax claims of 710,930 lei from copyright rights have been established. ANAF emphasizes that it seeks proper tax compliance from those who earn income from artistic and online activities, to ensure fairness and fair competition.
